Indulgence 34

Indulgence 34: The Barrel-Aged Stout Hidden in the 2026 Advent Box

Some Moersleutel beers are made to be enjoyed immediately. Others take patience.

Indulgence belongs firmly in the second category.

The Indulgence series is Moersleutel’s barrel-aged stout series, normally reserved for members of The Guild. But in 2026, there is one festive exception: Indulgence 34 will be part of the Moersleutel Advent Box.

That means Advent 2026 gives non-Guild members a chance to taste a beer that would normally only reach Guild members.

More than a year in wood

Indulgence 34 is not a beer that was rushed from brewery to can.

The beer is a blend of three barrel-aged stouts, each with its own character and its own time in wood. The brewers and barrel blenders taste the individual barrels and determine the right balance for the final blend.

For Indulgence 34, Moersleutel has revealed details about two of the three barrels.

46% — 468 days in Irish whiskey barrels

Almost half of the final blend comes from stout aged for 468 days in Irish whiskey barrels.

This part of the blend brings notes of vanilla, a touch of honey and soft oak.

34% — 376 days in Scotch single malt barrels

Another 34% spent 376 days in Scotch single malt barrels.

Expect caramel, toasted oak and a cleaner whisky warmth from this part of the blend.

20% — the oldest barrel

The final 20% comes from a third barrel.

Moersleutel has revealed only one thing about it: this is the oldest part of the blend, with an impressive 533 days in wood.

The rest remains a secret until December.

A special exception for Advent

Indulgence is normally made for The Guild. The series requires time, patience and careful blending, which makes it a natural fit for a membership built around discovering beers that take a little longer to make.

But once a year, Moersleutel makes an exception.

During the festive Advent season, Indulgence becomes available to anyone who orders the 2026 Advent Box.

That makes Indulgence 34 one of the beers to look out for during this year’s countdown.

How should you drink it?

This is a beer worth slowing down for.

Moersleutel recommends pouring Indulgence 34 into a small glass and not serving it too cold. Give it some time in the glass and let the flavours develop as you drink.

It is the kind of beer that works better as a moment than as just another beer from the fridge.

And with the exact day of Indulgence 34 kept secret, you will have to wait until December to find out when the door opens.

Indulgence 34 is included in the Moersleutel Advent Box 2026, available to Guild members and non-members alike.
